What this changes

  • Replaces any cover art already in the file — the new image becomes the single front cover.
  • Leaves everything else alone. Title, artist, album and embedded lyrics are untouched.
  • MP3 gets an ID3 APIC frame; FLAC gets a PICTURE block. JPEG and PNG are the most widely supported.
  • Cover art is capped at 10.00 MB. Your audio and image are processed on our servers and deleted as soon as the file is returned.

How to use this tool

    Upload audio

    MP3 or FLAC, up to 100 MB. The page picks the right endpoint from the extension so a FLAC never gets posted to the MP3 route.

    Upload artwork

    JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP, up to 10 MB. The image is identified from its bytes before upload, so a .png that is really something else is caught here rather than by the server.

    It replaces what's there

    Existing pictures are cleared first, then your image is written as the Front Cover. That's every embedded picture, not only the front one.

    Download tagged file

    Named your-file-cover.mp3 (or .flac), keeping the container extension so the original is never overwritten.

Why use this tool

Audio bitstream preserved

Only the metadata is rewritten. MPEG frames and FLAC audio frames are copied through byte for byte — embedding a cover cannot change how the file sounds.

Written the way each container expects

MP3 gets an ID3 APIC frame typed as Front Cover; FLAC gets a PICTURE block. Same image, two genuinely different structures — you don't have to know which is which.

Your other tags survive

Title, artist, album, lyrics and comments are left as they are, and an MP3's existing ID3v2 version is preserved rather than silently downgraded.

Real format check

The image type comes from its magic bytes, not from the filename or the browser's guess — so an SVG or a BMP renamed .png is rejected up front with a message that says why.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, and it removes all of it — not just the front cover. Every embedded picture is cleared before yours is written, so a file carrying a back cover and a booklet scan will come back with only your new image. Run Extract Artwork first if you want to keep the old front cover.
