Pull cover art out of your audio files
Read the cover image out of an MP3 (ID3 APIC frame) or FLAC (PICTURE block) and save it. The stored bytes are handed back untouched, so a 1500×1500 JPEG comes out as that exact JPEG — not a re-encode of it.
Input

A file can hold several pictures (front cover, back cover, artist photo). This tool returns the first one stored in the file and shows its label above, so you can tell which picture you got.

What you provide

How to use this tool
- 01
Upload your file
MP3 or FLAC. Drop a .flac while the MP3 tab is active and the page switches tabs for you rather than posting it to the wrong endpoint.
- 02
We find the cover
A file can hold several pictures — front, back, booklet, artist photo. We return the one tagged Front Cover, or the first picture if none is tagged.
- 03
Preview it
The image is shown with its real pixel dimensions and byte size, so you can spot a 300×300 thumbnail masquerading as album art before you use it anywhere.
- 04
Save the original
Downloaded as your-file-cover.jpg (or .png / .gif / .webp), with the stored bytes written straight to disk.
Why use this tool
No re-encoding
We hand back the exact bytes stored in the tag. Nothing is resized, recompressed or colour-converted, so the file you save is the file the tagger embedded.
Front cover, not just the first one
Picture blocks are unordered. Returning whichever came first would hand you the back cover on any file that stores it before the front — so we look for the Front Cover type and only fall back to the first picture when there isn't one.
Honest about broken tags
The MIME a tagger writes is free text and is sometimes wrong, or is the '-->' sentinel meaning the block holds a URL rather than an image. We check the actual bytes and say so, instead of rendering a broken preview and offering a download named .jpg that isn't one.
Who this tool is for
Library cleanup
Check what resolution your albums are actually carrying — a lot of older rips embed a 200-pixel thumbnail.
Visual assets
Recover a cover for a podcast feed image, a video thumbnail or a DJ display when the original artwork file is long gone.
Re-tagging
Pull the cover out of one file so you can embed it across a whole album with the Embed Artwork tool.
