No — Instruments Studio runs entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API. Nothing is uploaded, and you don't need an account. Every instrument is synthesised on the fly rather than streamed as samples, so there's nothing to download before you play.
Use your computer keyboard. The home row (A S D F G H J K L) plays the white keys and W E T Y U O the black keys; Z through M cover the octave above. Drum kits map one pad per key from A to K. You can also click or tap the on-screen keys. Press ? at any time for the full shortcut list.
Yes. Record a take, then hit Overdub to layer another instrument on top — the first take plays back in time underneath while the new part records against the same timeline, so the layers stay in sync. Pause and resume mid-take without drifting.
MP3 or WAV. The export re-renders your take offline through the same synthesis code that played it live, so the downloaded file sounds exactly like what you heard rather than being a recording of your speakers.
