Frequently asked questions
No — any built-in laptop mic, headset or USB mic works, and your browser will ask permission the first time. Very quiet input is ignored rather than scored as a wrong note, and the detector only listens between roughly 70 Hz and 1100 Hz, which covers the normal singing range.
No. The pitch is worked out inside your browser from the live microphone stream, and the only thing sent to our server is a stream of numbers — the note frequency it detected and the time it heard it. No audio is recorded, uploaded or stored. You do need to be signed in for the scoring session to open.
Scales. Pick a root note from C4 to A4, a major, minor or pentatonic pattern, and a tempo; the page lights up the next target note and shows how many cents sharp or flat you are as you hold it. The run finishes on its own after the last note and gives you an average and a rank. Singing along to a specific song is what the Karaoke Scoring tool does instead.
No. Practice sessions are free and spend no credits — the account is only needed because the scoring itself runs on our server over an authenticated connection.
