Frequently asked questions
No. The speech in your video is transcribed and timed for you on our servers — you only choose the language (or leave it on auto-detect) and how the captions should ship. If no speech at all is detected the job fails and your credits are refunded.
Burn-in re-encodes the video with the captions drawn permanently into the picture, so they show everywhere, including feeds that autoplay muted. A soft track muxes the subtitles into the MP4 as a separate stream that a player can toggle on and off. The three caption styles — clean white-on-outline, boxed, and bold yellow — only apply to burned-in captions.
It tries. Tick "Label speakers" and the audio goes through speaker diarization before the subtitles are built. This step is best-effort: if the diarization model isn't available or can't separate the voices, the captions come back correct but unlabelled rather than failing the job.
MP4, MOV or WEBM up to 500 MB and 20 minutes per job — trim longer footage first. Captioning costs three credits by default (the button shows the live price) and needs you to be signed in; if the job fails or hits its time limit the credits are refunded.
